Coffee with Breakthroughs

The last 2 weeks, I have been choosing breakthroughs over breakdowns.

Everyone is going through something whether it is financial crisis, mental distress, physical ailments or weakness, addictions, loneliness, doubt, fear, bitterness, regret, unforgiveness, and in order to break into financial freedom, mental wholeness, physical strength, control, community, faith, confidence, love, joy, and forgiveness, it takes the action of breaking through.

Breakthroughs take intention.

Growing relationships take quality time marked in calendars.

Financial crises means taking your head out of the sand and dealing with reality and starting with a practical budget.

Physical ailments or weakness takes dialing in nutrition, consistent workout plans, and owning the fact that “transformation is not a future event but a present activity” (Jillian Michaels).

Addictions and mental distress takes community, allowing people in, and if you are being the person let in, fight for the person and fight less for your own comfort by being willing to speak the truth in love, choosing character over comfort.

Promotions in dreams and career takes daily faithfulness, excellence, and courage.

All areas in our lives that we want to break into new levels, we need to choose the breakthrough instead of the breakdown, fighting for our dreams instead of choosing defeat.

This week, I have seen more power and life come from difficult and uncomfortable conversations which started with a decision to not just survive but thrive in life.

Autumn Calabrese, my current trainer on the Beach Body workout program, said some powerful words that changed my perspective on breakthroughs:

“Let the space of where you are and where you want to be inspire you, push you. Don’t let it scare you. Let it motivate you to go harder, to lean into the challenge. You need to know that you are worth it. You need to know that all of the struggle is building you up. It is not breaking you down, but really it is breaking you through. All those moments that you hurt, that you want to quit and give up, those moments aren’t breaking you down, they are breaking you through whatever you are dealing with, holding on to, whatever has been keeping you back. Let it push you forward and not hold you back”.

What areas in your life that you feel are breaking you down, where you desire to take more control? It all begins with new habits to increase the quality of your spiritual, mental, physical, emotional, and relational health. Choose to breakthrough and not breakdown in this area this week.

“The habits you created to survive will no longer serve you when it’s time to thrive. Get out of survival mode. New habits, new life”.
