You are chosen. You are blessed. You are Beloved. In this, you give.
These are 4 simple sentences that awakened the homesickness in me.
I didn’t realize how far my soul drifted away from home due to busyness, a pandemic, political unrest, racial divide, and my choices at times to numb out on auto-pilot.
We live in a world that says exactly the opposite: You are not chosen. You are cursed. You are unloved. In this, you take.
Right now is a time in history where it indeed feels like this isn’t the chosen year, that it is cursed, that we don’t have mercy and compassion to extend, and that we need to hoard the little we have.
Life of the Beloved by Henri Nouwen reminds us of God’s heart towards us regardless of what we may be facing the last few months:
“Wherever you go, I go with you, and wherever you rest, I keep watch. I will give you food that will satisfy all your hunger and drink that will quench all your thirst. I will not hide my face from you. You know me as your own as I know you as my own.”
You are not alone in this life nor are you overlooked, cursed, deemed unloveable, or destined for scarcity.
I encourage you to find a quiet place outside, free of distraction, and just listen. Give your soul enough time to drift back home and hear these words:
“You are my Beloved child, on you my favor rests”.
Can you say “yes” to this truth?
Believe in your Belovedness today by simply accepting that you are chosen and blessed by God empowered with the ability to give.
Allow yourself to receive and “be loved” by God for exactly who you are right now.
There are no hoops to jump through.
You simply existing is enough.
The mystical transformation that I find happening in my own spiritual journey is in accepting myself as God’s Beloved, I find myself hearing it more.
I am finding myself walking more in the light, free from shame of my past, anxiety of my future, and fear of my present.
I encourage you to cling, pivot, and turn towards the light, in all its radiance that will light your way back home - home as the Beloved.
“When we keep claiming the light, we will find ourselves becoming more and more radiant.”
