“Often, the journey to greatness begins the moment our preferences for comfort and certainty are overruled by a greater purpose that requires challenge and contribution.”
Your contributions matter - whatever that is and whatever that looks like.
People need you, fully present and fully here. People need your spunk, sass, voice, art, opinion, thoughts, and yes, the timing is now.
This past week, I have had some exciting opportunities and random moments of validation that confirmed this idea: Don’t lose your grit.
Grit: strength of will, tenacity, spunk.
I have been reading a book called High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard, and I have been listening to some of his podcasts during my commute to work, and it has been an anchor that reminds me to stand firm, to not grow weary in doing good, to live out excellence. Being a 9th grade English teacher and being so close to the end of the school year, it gets easy to lose grit, but I am learning to finish strong, to keep on!
Whatever position you operate in, I encourage you today to put all effort, all excellence, all of your being in it. Show up. Be all there, and make yourself known.
I have found that in the moments that I choose to switch the knob off of auto-pilot with my auto-response “good mornings” and “how are yous”, and get real about my story and my season with others, the closer connected I feel to myself, others, and God.
You were never called to a mediocre, under the radar coasting, default way of living.
Let’s start this week by getting clear, clearer on your dreams, desires, hopes, and needs.
Let’s get clearer of what makes you feel like you are alive and living with purpose.
Let’s get clearer of how to live a life of grit and embrace the grind that comes with it.
Brendon Burchard claims that the first step of living your best life is clarity. I encourage you today to give yourself time to pick two to three words that describes the best you.
For example, this upcoming summer, I desire to be healthy and inspired.
Once you have your words, align yourself to them. For example, in order for me to truly be healthy and inspired, there will be sacrifices to be made, social events, food, habits, and much more that I need to say “no” to so I can say “yes” to being healthy and inspired.
Make room and create a space and time in your schedule to become the best you, to truly live out those words.
I speak clarity over you and this week.
Don’t be afraid of your grit.
